Description

The two classic Krabi day trips run back to back on one speedboat: the Hong Islands group in the morning and the 4 Islands group in the afternoon, nine islands and sandbars in a single day. It is the most ground you can cover from Ao Nang without staying overnight anywhere, and it costs considerably less than booking the two tours on separate days.

Packed day but worth every baht. We ticked off Hong Lagoon in the morning and the 4 Islands in the afternoon. Poda Island at the end was the perfect finisher, proper postcard beach. Bring a hat, it's a long day in the sun.

Very good tour. If you're doing it, go early in your holiday when you still have energy for a full day out.

Best value tour we did in Krabi. 9 stops in a day sounds crazy but it actually works, you're never bored and each island has something different.

Excellent rapport qualité-prix. On a vu beaucoup en une journée, bien organisé, équipage sympa.

  1. Pickup from Krabi Town, Ao Nam Mao, Klong Muang, Tub Kaek

    Pickup window07:30–08:00

The furthest areas are collected first. A minibus picks you up from your hotel lobby and we confirm your exact time the evening before. It is an early start because this is the longest day we run.

  2. Pickup window08:00–08:30

Ao Nang and Nopparat Thara are closest to the pier, so they are collected last and spend the least time in the vehicle.

  3. Check in at the pier, meet the guide, collect your life vest and snorkel gear, and take the safety briefing. The speedboat crosses to the Hong Islands in about 20 minutes.

  4. Railay has no road access, so guests staying there join the boat directly rather than by minibus.

  5. The first snorkelling stop, and the quietest time of day to have it. Soft coral sits close to shore in shallow water, and the beach swing under the trees is here. Around half an hour in the water.

  6. A small stop most operators skip entirely, which is exactly why it is worth doing. Good snorkelling straight off the beach and rarely another boat in sight.

  7. The longest morning stop and where lunch is served on the beach, Thai style, with halal and vegetarian options if you asked for them when booking. Pakbia has the longest sandbar in the group, and it grows through the day as the tide drops. Shallow, calm water, so it is the easiest swimming of the morning.

  8. A short, deliberate stop at the enclosed lagoon inside Hong Island, reached through a narrow gap in the cliff. The window is brief on this itinerary because the day has a lot to fit in, so you go in, take it in, and come back out. The entrance works best at mid-tide, which is one reason the running order shifts from day to day.

  9. The main beach, and the longest single stop on the island half of the day. White sand, water that shelves gently enough for children to stand in, and the only toilets and changing facilities you will see all day.

  10. A steep staircase of a little over 400 steps to a viewpoint over the whole island group, with handrails most of the way. It takes about 30 minutes up and it is entirely optional. Roughly half of each group does it and the rest stay on the beach.

  11. The crossing from the Hong Islands group down to the 4 Islands. This is the point where the day turns into a second tour, and it is a good half hour to sit down, dry off and drink some water.

  12. Named for the limestone stack on its southern end that, from the right angle, looks like a chicken head. Snorkelling here is off the boat rather than off a beach.

  13. The part people remember. As the tide falls, a sandbar surfaces linking Tup, Mor and Chicken Islands, and you can walk from one island to the next with clear water on either side. It only appears around low tide, so the afternoon timing of this tour is built around that window.

  14. The postcard beach: powder white sand with a limestone cliff behind it. Snacks and fruit are served here, and it is the most relaxed hour of the afternoon.

  15. One last snorkel before the run home, in sheltered water on the way back north.

  16. Drop-off window17:00–18:00

Back to the pier and into the minibus. Most guests are home between 17:00 and 18:00 depending on their area. It is about ten and a half hours door to door, so plan a quiet evening.

A long, fast day with short stops rather than a lingering one. Nine stops in ten and a half hours means roughly 30 to 60 minutes at each, and the boat moves between them at speed.

The afternoon is timed around the falling tide so that Talay Waek is walkable, which is why the exact running order shifts through the month.

Lunch is served on the beach at Pakbia in the middle of the day and snacks at Poda in the afternoon, so there is a long stretch on the water between them. Take a hat and plenty of water.

FAQs

Yes. On this tour the Than Bok Khorani National Park entry fee is already in the price you see, so there is nothing extra to pay at the islands. That is unusual: most Krabi day tours leave you to pay it in cash on arrival.

No. You book online and pay on the day of the tour, so nothing is charged when you reserve your seats. Bring cash for the tour price and for the national park fee if it is not already included.

The Hong Islands group in the morning (Lao Lading, Lao Ka, Pakbia, Hong Lagoon and Hong Island), then the 4 Islands group in the afternoon (Chicken Island, Talay Waek, Poda and Tang Ming). It is the two classic Krabi day trips run back to back on one boat.

It is a long day and worth being honest about. Pickup starts at 07:30 and you are back at your hotel around 18:00, with roughly nine hours on and around the water. If you have limited days in Krabi and want to see the most, it is the best value on the site. If you are travelling with small children or you want a slow day, take the single Hong Islands tour instead.

Talay Waek is the sandbar that surfaces between Tup, Mor and Chicken Islands as the tide drops, so you can walk from one island to the next across the sand. It only appears around low tide, and the afternoon timing of this tour is planned around that window, though the exact hour moves through the month.

Pickup is from your hotel and it is included from Ao Nang, Railay, Klong Muang, Tub Kaek, Krabi Town and Nopparat Thara, from 07:30 depending on your area. Give us your hotel name and room number when you book and we send the exact time the day before. If you are staying outside those areas, message us before booking and we will tell you whether we can reach you.

Yes. Children aged 4 to 11 pay 2,350 baht and infants aged 2 to 3 travel free. Life vests come in child sizes, the beaches are shallow and calm, and an adult must travel with every child. Bring a hat, a rash vest and reef-safe sunscreen: the boat has shade but the beaches have very little.

No. Life vests are provided and worn in the water at every stop, and the guide stays with the group. The beaches at Pakbia and Hong Island shelve gently, so non-swimmers and small children can stand in the shallows.

Yes. The Thai-style lunch has halal and vegetarian options, and we can work around most allergies. Tell us when you book, or message us afterwards, so the kitchen has it in writing before the day.

The tour runs in light rain, which is common and passes quickly. The decision that matters is the sea state, not the sky: if the port authority closes the pier or the captain judges the crossing unsafe, we contact you to move the tour to another date or refund you in full. We never send a boat out in conditions we would not take our own families out in.

Swimwear worn under your clothes, a towel, a hat, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen, and cash for the park fee and anything you buy on the day. Mask, snorkel and life vest are provided. A dry bag is worth having: longtail boats take spray, and phones and cameras are the things people lose.

Yes. Cancelling or moving your booking to another date is free up to 24 hours before the tour starts, and anything you have paid is refunded in full. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the start time are non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded. If we have to cancel, for example for weather or safety, you can move to another date or take a full refund.

To keep the ride safe, this tour is not suitable for pregnant women. If that could apply to anyone in your group, contact us before booking and we will help you find a better fit.

This was an amazing tour! Very long day but well worth it!! The weather gods turned it on which was lucky.. All our stops were simply breathtaking.. Phi Phi islands, Maya Bay, Bamboo island. We had perfect amount of times spent at each.. the waters were crystal clear and a great temperature. Lovely buffet lunch. Definitely swim and snorkel! Then we went onto the afternoon sunset tour on Poda Island which was stunning.. BBQ dinner and sat on the beach for the sunset! Lastly swimming with the bioluminescent plankton which was very cool to see! What a day and it’s great value for money! Highly recommend:) Tour guide Nadia was very funny and she was awesome. Ming was also very cool and helpful! Thank you!!

Fantastic Hong Islands trip on the speedboat—fast, smooth, and well-organized Rating: 5 / 5 Stars (or your preferred rating) Pros: Speedboat Advantage: Taking the speedboat got us out to the Hong Islands quickly and comfortably, leaving plenty of time on the beach and in the water instead of wasting time in transit. Incredible Scenery: Hong Island, the emerald lagoon, and the surrounding limestone karst islands are stunning. The 360° viewpoint climb is a workout, but the panoramic views at the top are worth every step. Great Tour Crew: The Krabi Sunset Tours team was well-organized, friendly, and kept everything moving smoothly from hotel pickup to drop-off. Beating the Morning Crowds: The schedule worked out great for enjoying the beaches without the heavy peak-morning crowds. Cons: Steep Steps to Viewpoint: The climb to the 360° viewpoint is hot and steep, so proper shoes/sandals (not flimsy flip-flops) are recommended. Summary: A top-notch island tour in Krabi. The speedboat makes the journey effortless, the sights are world-class, and Krabi Sunset Tours delivered a seamless, memorable day. Highly recommended!

Outstanding experience. Went on a traditional boat tour to hong island and we ended up with a fantastic guide and only 2 others on our boat. Only thing you could „complain“ about is that there will be other boats from other company’s too and it might get crowded.
