Questions People Ask

Does the tour provide snorkeling gear or do I bring my own?
All our tours include masks, fins and life jackets. You don't need to bring any snorkeling equipment. If you prefer your own mask for comfort or hygiene, or need prescription goggles, bring those along.
Can I bring my phone on the boat?
Yes, but keep it in a dry bag. The boat deck can get splashed and the lagoon entry involves swimming. A basic waterproof phone pouch, available in Ao Nang for around ฿50, will keep it safe. Underwater photos of the reef are very much worth it.
Is reef-safe sunscreen really necessary?
Yes, and the national park enforces it. Chemical sunscreen ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate are banned because they cause direct damage to coral. Reef-safe mineral sunscreen (zinc or titanium dioxide based) is the standard. You can buy it in Ao Nang or Krabi Town before you go. Read more about the national park rules.
What should I wear on the boat?
Swimwear is the most practical base layer. Bring a rash guard or lightweight long-sleeved shirt for sun protection on the water, the reflection makes the UV stronger than it feels. A small towel, flip-flops and a hat round it out. Don't wear anything you'd be upset to get wet or sandy.
Is there somewhere to store my bag on the boat?
Yes, but space is limited. We recommend a small daypack or dry bag rather than a large bag. Anything valuable that can't get wet should go into a dry bag. Leave anything you really can't afford to lose at your hotel.
