Fantastic Hong Islands trip on the speedboat—fast, smooth, and well-organized Rating: 5 / 5 Stars (or your preferred rating) Pros: Speedboat Advantage: Taking the speedboat got us out to the Hong Islands quickly and comfortably, leaving plenty of time on the beach and in the water instead of wasting time in transit. Incredible Scenery: Hong Island, the emerald lagoon, and the surrounding limestone karst islands are stunning. The 360° viewpoint climb is a workout, but the panoramic views at the top are worth every step. Great Tour Crew: The Krabi Sunset Tours team was well-organized, friendly, and kept everything moving smoothly from hotel pickup to drop-off. Beating the Morning Crowds: The schedule worked out great for enjoying the beaches without the heavy peak-morning crowds. Cons: Steep Steps to Viewpoint: The climb to the 360° viewpoint is hot and steep, so proper shoes/sandals (not flimsy flip-flops) are recommended. Summary: A top-notch island tour in Krabi. The speedboat makes the journey effortless, the sights are world-class, and Krabi Sunset Tours delivered a seamless, memorable day. Highly recommended!

Outstanding experience. Went on a traditional boat tour to hong island and we ended up with a fantastic guide and only 2 others on our boat. Only thing you could „complain“ about is that there will be other boats from other company’s too and it might get crowded.

Real prices for every kind of Hong Islands trip, what the booking platforms charge, and the 300 baht park fee that most listed prices leave out.
Hong Islands tour prices are confusing for one reason: the number you first see is rarely the number you pay. Booking platforms show foreign currency, most listings leave out the national park fee, and a lot of headline prices are temporary discounts. Here is the whole picture, with our own prices published in full.
A joined Hong Islands day tour from Ao Nang costs roughly 1,200 to 1,600 baht per adult booked direct with a local operator. On top of that, nearly every tour requires a national park entry fee of 300 baht per adult and 150 baht per child, paid in cash at the islands. A private boat for a small group starts around 5,300 baht for the whole boat.

A group of five on a private longtail pays 5,290 THB for the boat, against 6,225 THB for five adults on the joined tour. That is the point where private becomes the cheaper option as well as the nicer one.
The Hong Islands sit inside Than Bok Khorani National Park, and the park charges an entry fee that is collected on arrival, in cash, in Thai baht:
This is not our fee and no operator can waive it. It matters when you compare prices, because a tour advertised 200 baht cheaper is not cheaper if the fee is excluded on both. For a family of four it adds 900 baht to the day. There is no card machine at the ranger station and no ATM on the islands, so bring small notes.
One point worth correcting, because it circulates widely: some large booking sites list the Hong Islands as being in Ao Phang Nga National Park. They are not. Koh Hong, Koh Lading and Koh Pakbia are administered by Than Bok Khorani National Park, which is why the fee is collected the way it is. Full detail on the park fees page.
We surveyed the Hong Islands listings on the three largest booking platforms and on other Krabi operator sites on 9 September 2026. Rather than reprint a table that will be stale in a month, here is what is actually useful to know.
Joined day tours sat in a broad band. On Viator, standard (non-discounted) Hong Islands day tours ranged from about 38 to 64 euros per adult, with premium speedboat trips at the top. On GetYourGuide the equivalent standard listings ran from about 26 to 44 euros. On Klook, most sat between roughly 30 and 42 US dollars. Converted loosely, that is a wide spread either side of the 1,245 to 1,595 baht that the same style of tour costs booked direct.
The currency you see is not fixed. Every one of those platforms renders prices in the currency of wherever you are browsing from. We saw euros and US dollars in the same session from Thailand. If you are comparing a platform price against a Thai operator's baht price, you are comparing two moving numbers, and the conversion rate and the platform's own margin are both inside the difference.
Several headline prices were temporary. A good number of the cheapest listings we saw carried a struck-through original and a "special offer" badge, in one case a Krabi operator advertising 799 baht against a crossed-out 1,600 baht. A discounted rate is a real price on the day you see it, and it is not a reliable basis for judging what a tour normally costs.
Almost nobody states the park fee clearly. Of the listings we checked, only two stated the 300 baht park fee explicitly, and both excluded it. Most said nothing at all, which is how people end up surprised at the ranger station.
Booking platforms charge the operator a commission, typically a fifth to a quarter of the ticket, and that is inside the price you pay. Booking direct with the operator running the boat removes that layer. It also means the person answering your message is the person arranging your pickup, rather than a support queue in another country.
The trade-off people worry about is trust, which is fair. The things to check on any Thai tour operator are a TAT licence number (ours is 42/00462), a registered company behind the site, and whether you are asked to pay everything up front. We ask for nothing up front on any tour: you book online and pay on the day.

On almost every Hong Islands tour, from any operator, no. It is 300 baht per adult and 150 baht per child aged 4 to 14, collected in cash on arrival. The exception on our site is the 9 Islands combo, where it is already inside the price.
Usually not. Those platforms take a commission from the operator that is built into the price you see, and they display in your home currency, which adds a conversion on top. The prices we saw in September 2026 were broadly higher than the same style of tour booked direct in baht, though individual discounted listings can undercut anyone for as long as the promotion runs.
Not with us. You reserve online and pay on the day of the tour, and cancelling is free up to 24 hours before. Many platforms take full payment at the time of booking instead.
Usually because it is a promotional rate against a crossed-out higher price, sometimes because it is a shorter trip that visits fewer islands, and sometimes because the park fee and lunch are not included. Check the island count, the duration and what the price actually covers before treating a low number as the same product.
A private longtail is 5,290 baht for the whole boat for up to five people, rising in bands to 13,790 baht for up to 28. A private speedboat starts at 12,995 baht for up to ten and goes to 44,995 baht for up to 60. The park fee is still per person on top.
